about

Temple Steps - Gates of Covid

What is a posthumous release if a band decides to reform? A false funeral? Lincoln’s Temple Steps have lumbered the public with their brand of sludge and doom since 2015 and refuse to die.

Originally ex-Flatlands vocalist Mike Shields (vocals/drums) and guitarist Mark McNulty (Currently of Slake), the band became a trio in 2018 with drummer Scott Nairn and then a 4-piece in 2019 with Joe Dickinson of Concrete Ships on bass.

During Covid the band resolved to write more, and laid down these tracks when lockdown was lifted. The result? The most harrowing efforts yet. More sludge-laden than ever and with a heft not heard before.

Try and enjoy it, Temple Steps are not dead.
